Objective:
To encourage the development of elite players who can be competitive at a national level.
Principles:
1. Elite athletes should be sponsored and supported by Squash Nova Scotia.
2. Elite athletes should be role models for new players and juniors to aspire toward.
3. Elite athletes should have incentives that encourage:
• Exceptional performance at national events.
• Exceptional performance at SNS sanctioned events.
• Participation within the provincial squash community.
• Formal off-season and off-court training.
Sponsorship Policies:
1. All elite players must be members of Squash Nova Scotia to represent Nova Scotia at national events.
2. All elite players must be members of Squash Nova Scotia to gain access to the sponsorship funding through Squash Nova Scotia or Sport Nova Scotia.
3. All elite players must have attended an officiating clinic.
4. All “A” Level squash players (men’s or women’s) are eligible to earn sponsorship funding. Women may compete at a Men’s “B” level and earn sponsorship funding at similar amounts.
5. Sponsorship funding is not redeemable for cash and can only be used to offset a player’s out-of-pocket costs of tournament entry, travel, accommodation and meals.
6. Events qualifying for sponsorship funding include any national or international events. All other events must be approved by the SNS Board prior to registration.
7. Sponsorship funding earned must be redeemed within the proceeding 12 months. No funds shall carry forward beyond 12 months.
Sponsorship Guidelines:
Elite players shall earn sponsorship funding, provided by Squash Nova Scotia, on the following basis:

Top 4 finish at a national/international event $500
Member of provincial team $150
Winner of SNS major events $200
Runner up of SNS major events $100
Semi- finalist at SNS major events $50
Winner of SNS sanctioned events $100
Runner up of SNS sanctioned events $75
Semi-finalist at SNS sanctioned events $25
Completion of 8 week off court training $100
Successful achievement of 12 minute test $100
Players may qualify for additional funding through other programs (e.g. Sportfund). The funds in this program will available in addition to funding from other sources, still subject to the cap specified in Policy #5 above. This policy is effective January 1, 2006 and shall be in effect until further notice.
